The Monster Moto Shield VNH2SP30 Motor Driver 14A is an upgraded version of the Ardumoto motor driver shield. In this version, the L298 H-bridge has been replaced with two VNH2SP30 full-bridge motor drivers, providing enhanced performance. The support circuitry has also been strengthened, allowing the board to drive high-current motors more efficiently. The VIN and motor outputs are designed for use with 5mm screw terminals (not included), making it easy to connect larger gauge wires for robust power delivery.
Note:
For high-demand applications, you may need to enhance thermal performance by adding a heatsink or fan, and consider soldering wires directly to the board instead of using screw terminals, especially in systems dealing with high currents. While there are various other factors to consider in high-current setups, it’s worth noting that when operating at currents up to 6A, the chips typically remain only slightly warm.
