PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A type K thermocouple is a temperature sensor that has Chromel and Alumel conductors and meets the output standards of ANSI/ASTM E230 or IEC 60584 for type K thermocouples. It can be in different forms, such as an immersion sensor, a surface sensor, a wire, or another type of sensor or cable.
Unlike a J type thermocouple, which has iron and constantan, a K type thermocouple has a nickel/chromium alloy (chrome) and a nickel/aluminum alloy (alumel). These alloys give the K type thermocouple better resistance to oxidation and acidity than the iron parts of the J type.
A K type thermocouple consists of two metal alloys: Chromel (90% nickel, 10% chromium) and Alumel (95% nickel, 2% manganese, 2% aluminum, and 1% silicon). Because the thermocouple is based on nickel, it has good corrosion resistance. This makes it suitable for many applications and situations.
