Description:
The Water Turbidity Sensor with Module is a device that monitors water quality by measuring how much light is scattered by suspended particles. It is compatible with various microcontroller platforms, such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PIC, ARM, AVR, and others.
The sensor has an infrared light emitter at its tip, which is invisible to the human eye. It detects the amount of particles in water by measuring light transmission and scattering rate. The more particles present, the higher the turbidity of the water.
The sensor can send measurement data to the microcontroller through digital or analog signals from the pins on the attached module. It is suitable for monitoring water turbidity in rivers, lakes, streams, reservoirs, research sites, laboratories, liquid tanks, and more. The waterproof tip allows direct contact with water.
Theory of Operation:
The sensor works on the principle that light transmitted through a water sample decreases as soil content increases. By measuring the transmitted light, the sensor determines the turbidity of the water.
In practical applications, such as a dishwasher, turbidity measurements are used to adjust washing cycles. Clean water measurements are taken at the beginning of the cycle and compared with the wash water turbidity at the end, allowing the dishwasher to conserve energy by only washing as long as necessary, resulting in energy savings.
