L293D Motor Driver Shield Expansion Board For Arduino
The L293D Motor Driver Shield for Arduino is a versatile and highly capable shield designed for a wide range of robotic applications. It features 2 servo connectors and 4 motor connectors supporting both DC motors and stepper motors making it ideal for complex projects that require precise motion control.
This Arduino-compatible motor driver shield can drive up to 4 DC motors 2 4-wire stepper motors and 2 5V servos. It uses the L293D motor driver to control the DC motors and stepper motors, while pins 9 and 10 of the Arduino handle the servo control.
The L293D is a high-voltage, high-current, 4-channel driver integrated circuit. With this chip, you can power motors with voltages up to 36V and supply a maximum current of 600mA per channel. The L293D is also an H-Bridge driver, enabling bidirectional control of motors, allowing you to easily reverse motor direction as needed.
The shield includes two L293D drivers and a 74HC595 shift register which expands the Arduino’s control pins from 3 to 8, giving you more flexibility in controlling motor direction and speed. The shield is designed to connect directly to the PWM outputs of the Arduino, allowing for smooth and efficient motor control.
Whether you’re building a robot, a mobile project, or any other system requiring motor control, the L293D Motor Driver Shield provides a reliable and easy-to-use solution.
FeaturesÂ
It can run 2 servo or 2 stepper or 4 DC motor with the help of external power supply and controlling via Arduino.
2 connections for 5V ‘hobby’ servos connected to the Arduino’s high-resolution dedicated timer
4 H-Bridges: L293D chipset provides 0.6A per bridge (1.2A peak) with thermal shutdown protection, internal kickback protection diodes. Can run motors on 4.5VDC to 25VDC.
Up to 4 bi-directional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection (so, about 0.5% resolution)
Up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single coil, double coil or interleaved stepping.
Pull-down resistors keep motors disabled during power-up
Big terminal block connectors to easily hook up wires (18-26AWG) and power
Arduino reset button brought up top
2-pin terminal block and jumper to connect external power, for separate logic/motor supplies
Tested compatible with Arduino Mega 1280 & 2560, Diecimila, Duemilanove, and UNO
