ArduPilot Mission Planner: Autonomous Flight Setup

ArduPilot is the world’s most trusted open-source autopilot software, powering everything from hobby drones to commercial survey aircraft. Introduction to ArduPilot Ecosystem

ArduPilot supports multiple vehicle types: ArduCopter (multirotors), ArduPlane (fixed-wing and VTOLs), ArduRover (ground vehicles), and ArduSub (underwater ROVs). Installing Mission Planner Software

India note: Magnetic declination varies across the country. ArduPilot auto-detects from GPS, but calibrate compass at your flying location.

Creating Your First Waypoint Mission

Creating waypoint missions:

1. Switch to Flight Plan tab
2. Right-click map to add waypoints
3. Set altitude for each waypoint (relative to home)
4. Add commands: loiter, change speed, take photo
5. Click Write WPs to upload to FC

For agricultural survey in India, use Auto WP → Survey (Grid) to generate grid patterns over fields with configurable overlap.

Safety Features and Geo-Fencing
