Description:
A solid state relay module (SSR) is an electronic switch that has no moving parts, unlike an electromechanical relay. There are three types of SSR: photo-coupled SSR, transformer-coupled SSR, and hybrid SSR. A photo-coupled SSR uses a low-voltage signal to control the load, and it isolates the signal optically from the load.
In a photo-coupled SSR, the control signal activates an LED, which in turn triggers a photo-sensitive diode. The diode switches on a thyristor, a silicon-controlled rectifier, or a MOSFET transistor that are connected in a back-to-back configuration to switch the load.
