Product DescriptionÂ
The TJA1050 CAN Controller Bus Driver Interface Module connects the CAN protocol controller and the physical bus. It allows the controller to send and receive differential signals to and from the bus. The TJA1050 is the third high-speed CAN transceiver from Philips, following the PCA82C250 and the PCA82C251. The main differences are:
– Much lower electromagnetic emission due to optimal matching of the output signals CANH and CANL
– Improved behavior when a node is unpowered
– No standby mode.
These features make the TJA1050 suitable for nodes that are in a power-down situation in partially powered networks.
FeaturesÂ
- This text describes an onboard TJA1050 CAN controller interface chip with the following features:
– It has common pins for easy connection.
– It uses a 5 V power supply.
– It has a PCB board size of 22 mm x 11.5 mm.
– It is fully compatible with the ISO 11898 standard.
– It supports high speed (up to 1 Mbaud).
– It has very low Electro-Magnetic Emission (EME).
– It has a differential receiver with a wide common-mode range for high Electro-Magnetic Immunity (EMI).
– It does not disturb the bus lines when unpowered.
– It has a Transmit Data (TXD) dominant time-out function.
– It has a silent mode that disables the transmitter.
– It is protected against transients in an automotive environment.
– It is compatible with input levels of 3.3 V and 5 V devices.
– It is thermally protected.
– It is short-circuit proof to the battery and to ground.
