NCP1203D60R2G SOP
Encased in SOIC-8 or PDIP-8 packages, the NCP1203 marks a significant advancement towards ultra-compact switch-mode power supplies and is an excellent alternative to UC384X devices. Owing to its proprietary SMARTMOS™ Very High Voltage Technology, this circuit enables the creation of complete offline AC-DC adapters, battery chargers, and high-power SMPS with minimal external components. Operating internally at a fixed switching frequency of 40 kHz, 60 kHz, or 100 kHz, the controller boasts a high-voltage startup FET that guarantees a smooth and efficient startup sequence. Its current-mode control offers excellent audio susceptibility and consistent pulse-by-pulse control. When the current setpoint drops below a certain threshold, for instance, when the output power demand decreases, the IC enters the skip cycle mode, enhancing efficiency under light loads and ensuring superior standby performance. This happens at a user-adjustable low peak current, preventing any acoustic noise. The NCP1203 also features a robust protective circuitry that, in the event of an output overload, deactivates the output pulses and initiates a safe burst mode to attempt a restart. After the fault is cleared, the device automatically recovers. Additionally, a temperature shutdown with hysteresis contributes to the creation of reliable and durable power supplies.
