The L293D Motor Driver IC is a versatile integrated circuit designed for efficient control of DC motors. It features dual H-bridge driver circuits, allowing you to control two motors simultaneously and facilitate movement in both forward and reverse directions.
Operating with a low-current control signal, the L293D acts as a current amplifier, providing a higher-current output to effectively drive motors. Input logic signals dictate its operation, enabling precise control over motor functions.
Users can change the motors’ rotational direction by adjusting the input logic on specific pins. A logic state of 00 or 11 will stop the motors, while 01 and 10 will initiate clockwise and counterclockwise rotations, respectively. For the motors to operate, the enable pins (1 and 9) must be activated.
When enabled, the driver circuits align their outputs with the input signals. Conversely, deactivating the enable inputs turns off the drivers, resulting in a high-impedance output state.
The L293D is capable of handling inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, and various motors, making it an ideal choice for applications that require precise motor control and support for positive-supply and bidirectional movement.
