The ADuC831 is a single-chip data acquisition system that integrates a high-performance, self-calibrating, multichannel 12-bit ADC, dual 12-bit DACs, and a programmable 8-bit MCU. It operates at 247 kSPS.
The MCU is an 8052 core that is compatible with the 8051 instruction set and has 12 core clock periods per machine cycle. It has 62 kBytes of on-chip nonvolatile Flash/EE program memory, 4 kBytes of on-chip nonvolatile Flash/EE data memory, 256 bytes of RAM, and 2 kBytes of extended RAM.
The ADuC831 also provides additional analog features, such as two 12-bit DACs, a power supply monitor, and a band gap reference. Its digital peripherals include two 16-bit Σ-∆ DACs, a dual output 16-bit PWM, a watchdog timer, a time interval counter, three timers/counters, Timer 3 for baud rate generation, and serial I/O ports (I2C, SPI, and UART).
The on-chip factory firmware supports in-circuit serial download and debug modes (via UART) and single-pin emulation mode via the EA pin. The ADuC831 is compatible with the QuickStart™ and QuickStart Plus development systems that offer low-cost software and hardware development tools.
The part can operate at 3 V or 5 V over the extended industrial temperature range. It is available in a 52-lead plastic quad flatpack package and a 56-lead chip scale package.
