The OV5647 5MP 1080P IR-Cut Camera, designed for the Raspberry Pi 3/4, offers seamless integration with Raspberry Pi boards and automatic day-night mode switching. Using the dedicated CSI interface—engineered specifically for camera modules—this camera ensures smooth operation with all Raspberry Pi revisions.
Equipped with a 5-megapixel OV5647 sensor, this camera delivers high-quality 1080p resolution. What sets it apart is its IR-cut sensor, which helps eliminate color distortion that often occurs in traditional cameras under daylight conditions. Unlike conventional cameras that produce reddish images due to the lack of an IR filter, this IR-cut camera ensures superior image quality in all lighting conditions, both day and night.
For night vision, the camera supports externally attachable IR LEDs and includes mounting holes for infrared and fill flash LEDs. An onboard photoresistor acts as an ambient light detector, automatically triggering day-night mode switching. Additionally, an adjustable resistor allows for precise control of the infrared LED’s activation threshold, optimizing performance across different lighting environments.
Installation is simple, with screw holes for secure attachment and power supply. The camera connects to the Raspberry Pi via a short ribbon cable and features a fixed-focus lens, providing a native 5MP resolution. It captures high-quality still images at 2592 x 1944 pixels and supports video recording in various resolutions, including 1080p at 30fps, 720p at 60fps, and 640x480p at 60/90fps.
Fully supported by the latest Raspbian OS, the OV5647 camera module ensures smooth compatibility and delivers exceptional performance for a wide range of imaging applications, from basic photography to video recording and surveillance.
