Sharp Distance Measuring Sensor unit 10 to 80cm – GP2Y0A21YK0F
The SHARP Distance Sensor uses infrared (IR) light to detect objects and measure their distance. It emits IR light, which reflects off objects and returns an analog voltage that can be used to calculate the proximity of the nearest object. This sensor is ideal for short-range detection, typically up to 1 meter. For distances beyond 1 meter, we recommend using sonar sensors for better accuracy.
The sensor comes with a 12-inch 3-pin JST interface wire for easy connection. To use, connect the black wire to ground, the red wire to 5V, and the white wire to an analog input on your microcontroller. The output voltage varies based on the object’s distance: it will output 3V when an object is 4 inches (10 cm) away and 0.4V when the object is 32 inches (80 cm) away.
