The AMS1117-5.0V 1A SOT-223 Voltage Regulator IC belongs to a series of low dropout three-terminal regulators. These regulators exhibit a dropout voltage of 5.0V at a 1A load current. In comparison to a competitor, the AMS1117 stands out with its remarkably low standby current of 2mA, as opposed to the competitor’s 5mA.
Alongside the fixed versions that offer Vout values of 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, 5V, and 12V, the AMS1117 also features an adjustable version. By using just two external resistors, this adjustable version can provide an output voltage ranging from 1.25V to 12V.
The AMS1117 incorporates thermal shutdown and current limit functions to enhance chip stability and overall power system reliability. Additionally, it employs trimming techniques to ensure an output voltage accuracy within 2%. Customized output voltage accuracies, such as 1%, can be accommodated upon request.
