The dual-channel 24-bit Precision A/D Weight Pressure Sensor Load Cell Amplifier and ADC HX711 Module is a compact breakout board for the HX711 IC, enabling easy reading of load cells to measure weight. By connecting the module to your microcontroller, you can read the resistance changes in the load cell; with proper calibration, you can achieve highly accurate weight measurements.
This module is useful for creating your own industrial scales, process control systems, or simple presence detection mechanisms. The HX711 Weighing Sensor operates with a two-wire interface (Clock and Data) for communication. It is compatible with any microcontroller’s GPIO pins, and there are numerous libraries available that simplify the process of reading data from the HX711.
Load cells are connected to the HX711 using a four-wire Wheatstone bridge configuration, typically with the colors red, black, white, green, and yellow.
Each colour corresponds to the conventional colour coding of load cells :
Red (Excitation+ or VCC).
Black (Excitation- or GND).
White (Amplifier+, Signal+, or Output+).
Green (A-, S-, or O-).
Yellow (Shield).
The YLW pin acts as an optional input that not hook up to the strain gauge; but is utilized to ground and shield against outside EMI (electromagnetic interference). Please keep in mind that some load cells might have variations in colour-coding.
