The USB to UART TTL 5V/3.3V FT232RL Download Cable Serial Adapter Module is a versatile breakout board for the FTDI FT232RL USB-to-serial IC, Revision 2. Its pinout is designed to be compatible with both official and cloned 5V Arduino boards, making it ideal for a variety of serial applications.
One notable feature of this board is the inclusion of the DTR pin instead of the RTS pin found on the FTDI cable. The DTR pin allows an Arduino to auto-reset when uploading a new sketch, eliminating the need to manually press the reset button. This board automatically resets any Arduino with a 6-pin connector for the reset pin.
The BLK and GRN pins correspond to the black and green wires on the FTDI cable, representing GND and CTS, respectively, ensuring proper alignment with your Arduino.
For enhanced usability, this board includes TX and RX LEDs, providing visual feedback on serial traffic and confirming the board’s operational status.
Designed to reduce costs and simplify Arduino development, this board features the convenient auto-reset capability, making it the preferred connector for Arduino Pro boards and LilyPads.
