The eSUN PLA-Wood (also called “Wood Filament”) is designed to combine the ease of 3D printing with the aesthetics of wood. Through the use of active foaming technology, this filament develops a wood-like texture and appearance when printed, giving finished prints a natural feel. Because it is based on PLA, it retains the user-friendly printing characteristics (low warping, low shrinkage, minimal odor) typical of PLA materials.
Its low density (about 0.7 g/cm³) enhances the wood effect, making parts lighter. The filament comes in several wood-tone variants such as Aspen, Oak, Walnut, Birch, and more. It is ideal for decorative objects, scale models, art pieces, and craft projects where a wood aesthetic is desirable.
Printing with PLA-Wood is mostly similar to PLA, but special care may be needed to reduce stringing caused by the foaming nature. Lowering temperature and adjusting retraction settings are common steps to improve print quality.
