Li-ion batteries are widely used in many indoor and outdoor gadgets because of their high charge storage capacity. They are compact, more efficient and have a higher energy intensity than other types of batteries. However, they also have some drawbacks that require careful monitoring of their charging and discharging process. If the battery is discharged below a certain voltage range, the battery cell may get damaged and lose its capacity. If the battery is overcharged, it may explode.
To prevent such problems, we can use battery protection and battery charging circuits like this product. This is a Li-ion single-cell charger/protection circuit that can charge a single cell of 15 Amp capacity or 2500Mah parallel-connected 5 to 6 li-ion cells. It uses MOSFETs to monitor the battery status and protect it from overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuits.
