PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The 4 x 4 matrix keypad usually is used as input in a project. It has 16 keys in total, which means the same input values. The 4 x 4 Matrix Keypad Module is a matrix non-encoded keypad consisting of 16 keys in parallel. The keys of each row and column are connected through the pins outside pin R1-R4 as labelled beside control the rows, when L1-L4, the columns.
A 4×4 matrix keypad consisting of microswitch pushbuttons. The module has four holes 3mm (M3) holes for mounting. The pin designations on each PCB are shown on each PCB. Four pins are thus used as an x coordinate and the other 4 as a y coordinate.
The module is already equipped with soldered pin headers.
Application: outside the expansion of the MCU button, the application of electronic building blocks, etc.
Features:
- 4×4 Matrix Keyboard Module with 16 buttons
- Small in size and hence Save space
- More convenient to use
- Expanded development application modules for single chip
Package Includes:
1 x 4×4 Push Button Switch 16 Keys 8LEDs Matrix Independent Keyboard Module

How to Use LED Scroller Matrix keyboard
Mount the module via its M3 holes or secure it in your enclosure, then connect the eight row and column pins to digital I/O lines on your controller. Use internal pull-up resistors and scan the matrix in your firmware to detect key presses. Libraries such as the Arduino “Keypad” library simplify matrix polling and debounce handling.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I wire the matrix keyboard to an Arduino?
Connect the R1–R4 pins to four Arduino digital inputs and L1–L4 to four more. Enable internal pull-up resistors in your sketch, then use a keypad-scanning routine (or the Arduino “Keypad” library) to cycle through rows and detect column signals when a key is pressed.
Can I mount this module in a custom enclosure?
Yes. The PCB includes four M3 mounting holes at the corners. Use M3 standoffs or screws to fix the keypad securely in panels, control boxes, or front bezels.
Does the module include a connector cable?
The keyboard comes with a pre-soldered 8-pin male header for direct wiring or ribbon cable attachment, but a separate cable or IDC connector is not included.
