LM386 Low Voltage Audio Amplifier IC
The LM386 is a low-voltage power amplifier designed for consumer electronics applications. It features a fixed internal gain of 20, minimizing the need for external components. However, by adding an external resistor and capacitor between pins 1 and 8, the gain can be adjusted anywhere between 20 and 200.
The amplifier has ground-referenced inputs, and its output is automatically biased to half of the supply voltage. With a very low quiescent power consumption of just 24 mW when powered by a 6V supply, the LM386 is an ideal choice for battery-powered devices, offering efficient performance in portable applications.
