Product Description:
A thermoelectric cooler (TEC) module, also known as a Peltier module, is a device that uses the Peltier thermoelectric effect to transfer heat from one side of the module to the other, creating a cold and a hot side. The TEC1-12705 40x40mm Thermoelectric Cooler 5A Peltier Module is a simple example of this device. It has 127 semiconductor couples in a 40mmx40mm area that can cool and heat up to 80°C.
TEC modules can be used for both heating and cooling applications, depending on which side is exposed to the target object. They can also generate electricity from a temperature difference between the two sides. However, they require a heat sink or another device to remove the heat from the hot side, otherwise they will reach thermal equilibrium and stop working. For instance, we used an old computer CPU heatsink and a computer power supply to make the cold side so cold that it hurt to touch it.
TEC modules are widely used in various industrial fields, such as computer CPU, CCDs, portable refrigerators, medical instruments, etc.
Operating Tips:
