The ReadytoSky 2-6S 5V/3A and 12V/3A Switchable UBEC is a module that uses an advanced switch-mode DC-DC regulator IC. This IC prevents the module from getting too hot.

This regulator and DC-DC converter module allows to convert an input voltage in the range 8-25VDC into 5VDC 3A or 12VDC 2A. To obtain this last output voltage, it is necessary to solder the two points indicated on the following picture:
