GY-271 QMC5883L 3-Axis Electronic Compass Module Magnetic Field Sensor
The GY-271 QMC5883L 3-Axis Electronic Compass Module is a compact magnetic field sensor designed for precise heading and orientation detection. Ideal for low-field magnetic sensing applications, this module features a digital interface and is commonly used in projects like UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and robotic navigation systems.
While the GY-271 is typically equipped with the HMC5883L sensor, some boards may feature the QMC5883L, which offers similar functionality but is not directly compatible with the HMC5883L. This sensor converts magnetic field data into a differential voltage output across three axes. The voltage change serves as the raw digital output, which can then be processed to calculate headings or detect magnetic fields from various directions.
If you are using a GY-271 board and notice an I2C address of 0x0C and only receive zeros in response, it’s likely that the board contains a QMC5883L chip instead of the HMC5883L.
