The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) provides a high-speed interface and optimizes the integration with embedded microcontrollers, lowering development costs and reducing time to market.

Digi’s ZigBee compatible module is based on the Ember EM35x (EM357 and EM3587) system on chip (SoC) radio ICs from SiliconLabs, utilizing 32-bit ARM CortexTM M3 processor.

Because XBee modules have 2 mm pin spacing, we recommend one of the adapter boards for each module. The XBee adapter boards provide several advantages to the XBee modules such as breadboard-friendly standard 0.1-inch pin spacing, mounting holes, and easy-to-solder connections. Even if you are communicating point-to-point without a PC, we still recommend that you always have at least one XBee USB Adapter Board,  so you can easily configure and test each XBee module prior to putting it in a point-to-point application.
